Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I get started?

First, begin by creating an account here

Then take a look at the descriptions of the class formats and decide which will suit your swimmer best:

    Parented Lessons

    Youth Lessons

    Junior Lifesaving

    Adult/Teen

  • What is the difference between private, semi private and group lessons?

Private lessons are one on one with an instructor.

There are two types of semi private lessons that you form on your own with family or friends—you can choose between having two or three swimmers in a group.  You should try to form these groups with friends or family members who will work well together in a lesson.  If you have any questions about this you can contact us here

  • Where do I need for lessons? Do my swimmers need googles?

You only need a bathing suit and towel for your swimming lesson!  We prefer that you do not use goggles for your lessons, as we want to make sure that our swimmers are comfortable having water in their face in case anyone happens to fall in the water in the future.

We believe that there is less chance of panicking if they are comfortable with water in their face first.

  • What do I need for parented lessons?

We ask that all of our parents double diaper their infants and toddlers for swimming lessons to decrease the risk of pool foulings and lesson closures.  Please layer a disposable swim diaper underneath a reusable swim diaper.

  • What happens if I will be absent for a lessons?

If you are unable to attend a lesson, you can submit an absence online on your Customer Portal Account.  Due to pool timing and instructor schedules, we are not able to offer make-up lessons for missed classes.

  • Whay if the pool needs to close due to maintenance or weather?

If the pool needs to close due to unforeseen circumstances during your lessons, we will add a credit to your account that you can use towards your next session.

Skill Evaluations

Learn to Swim focuses on progressions from level to level rather than a pass-or-fail system. Swimmers are constantly being evaluated according to their ability and progress through each level with gentle encouragement from their instructor. Parents can track their child’s progress on their account under their student’s evaluations.

At the end of each session, evaluations will be emailed to student’s families and a certificate will be presented to students celebrating their special achievements during the session.

Jitters To Joy Orientation

Every child is different and therefore the approach we use with each child will look a little different. The main thing to remember is that we will never force a child to enter the water until they are ready. However, we are committed to using a variety of strategies and activities on the deck to help students transition to the water. For some children, it takes time to build a trusting relationship with an instructor. We have discovered that if we guide students in creating trusting relationships with the instructors first, students are willing (and often happy) to enter the water and participate fully in their swim lesson.

Why?

• We believe that helping students feel comfortable and safe in the water is the most important first step in learning to swim. You don’t float when you’re tense. To swim, you have to relax!

• We believe in small progressions that help swimmers gain confidence in the water with gentle instruction from their instructor.

• We believe small victories lead to big success!

Who is it for?

• Those who are fearful of the water

• Those who experience anxiety in new situations

• Those who take a little longer to warm-up to new people/situations.

What is it?

• An opportunity to find out more about the program and the way lessons work.

• The ability to discuss and develop individualized goals.

• The chance to meet the instructor and support staff.

• The opportunity to ask questions and have fears alleviated.

• The ability to learn more about the facility and the equipment/toys available.
