Straight-Level and Multi-Level Classes
A straight-level class focuses on the skills within one specific level. This option may be especially helpful for first-time or nervous swimmers who benefit from a slower pace, additional reassurance, and more time to become comfortable in the water.
A multi-level class combines two neighbouring levels with similar skills and ability requirements. With a maximum of three swimmers per class, the instructor can adapt each activity to the individual swimmer—providing support, practice or added challenge as needed.
We use this approach because children often progress quickly and unevenly at the beginning of their swimming journey. A child may be ready to advance in floating or kicking while still developing confidence with submersion or breathing. Multi-level classes allow swimmers to strengthen the skills they are still learning while beginning new ones as soon as they are ready.
This flexible structure prevents children from being held back by a level label, avoids unnecessary repetition and helps each swimmer maximize their progress while learning at a comfortable and appropriate pace.

5-Level Program for Children 3-5 Years

Guppy
This level is ideal for first-time swimmers, children who may feel nervous in the water, or those who benefit from learning at a slower, confidence-building pace.
Swimmers will focus on blowing bubbles, submerging underwater for three seconds, becoming comfortable with assisted floats and glides, and learning age-appropriate water-safety skills. Maximum of 3 children per class.
Register for this level if your child is new to swimming lessons, feels nervous or hesitant in the water, or is not yet comfortable putting their entire face in the water for three seconds.

Jellyfish/Guppy
Designed for beginner swimmers ages 3–5, this combined level allows children to develop confidence and progress at their own pace.
Swimmers will work on blowing bubbles, fully submerging for at least three seconds, assisted and independent floats and glides, and age-appropriate water-safety skills, including the use of PFDs. Depending on their starting ability, children will progress from becoming comfortable in the water toward beginning to swim independently.

Skill Evaluations
Learn to Swim focuses on progressions from level to level rather than a pass-or-fail system. Swimmers are constantly being evaluated according to their ability and progress through each level with gentle encouragement from their instructor. Parents can track their child’s progress on their account under their student’s evaluations.
At the end of each session, evaluations will be emailed to student’s families and a certificate will be presented to students celebrating their special achievements during the session.
